The Bauhaus Books edited by Gropius and Moholy Nagy were published by the Albert Langen Press in Munich. Fourteen Volumes appeared between 1925-1931, and they were important ambassadors for the bauhaus in the outside world. All but one of the covers of the paperback editions and the identical jackets of the bound editions were designed by Moholy-Nagy, who was also responsible for the typographical layout of all but two.

Their striking covers were created from a combination of graphic, typographic and photographic material. The titles included works by Bauhaus masters, such as Klees's Pedagogical Sketchbook (1925), Kandinsky's Point and Line to Plane (1926), and two books by Moholy Nagy: Painting, Photography, Film (1925) and From Material to Architecture(1929). They also included books featuring Bauhaus work; An Experimental House from the Bauhaus, New Work from the Bauhaus Workshops, and The Bauhaus Stage. However, the series also contained works by members of the international avant garde, such as Piet Mondrian's New Design, Theo van Doesburgs Basic Concepts in the New Art and Design, Kasimir Malevich's Non Objective World and J.J.P. Oud's Dutch Architecture.
